Philadelphia Bar Assn. to Sponsor "Law School" for Non-Lawyers

Philadelphia-area residents can receive basic information about areas of the law most likely to impact on their daily lives when the Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association presents The People's Law School--a six-session adult legal education program for non-lawyers beginning Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The program will be held from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Center's Jury Assembly Room, 13th and Filbert Streets in Center City Philadelphia. Classes are scheduled for Sept. 21, 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26.

Topics to be covered include: bankruptcy law, consumer fraud law, criminal law and procedure, defending yourself in a civil law suit, employment law, family law, immigration law, landlord/tenant law, personal injury/tort law, real estate law, wills and estate planning, and workers' compensation law. Each week, local attorneys from both the private and public sectors will speak on topics related to their area of practice.

The fee for the entire six-week program, which includes the course manual, is only $40. On-site registration will be available as space permits.
