Philadelphia Bar Association Statement Condemning Rising Incidences of Anti-Semitism

“Antisemitism has no place in our community,” Chancellor Lauren P. McKenna said.

Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Lauren P. McKenna released the following statement regarding the recent rise in anti-Semitic threats and violence around the U.S.:

“Antisemitism has no place in our community. We have been deeply troubled by the recent increase in anti-Semitic threats and violence in the Philadelphia region and around the country, which the Anti-Defamation League says have already been on the rise for several years.

“Our Association stands for the rule of law and for equal access to justice. We condemn any acts that make people feel as if they are unable to freely live and worship, or that they will face discrimination due to their race, ethnicity or religious beliefs. Anyone who commits anti-Semitic acts should immediately be held accountable, and these acts should be recognized as the hate crimes that they are.

“We stand with the Jewish community and with our colleagues and friends at the Louis D. Brandeis Society in saying ‘such actions must never again be deemed as tolerable or acceptable by civilized people.’”
