Civil Rights Committee to Discuss Minority Participation in Construction Business Jan. 10
Join the Civil Rights Committee at noon on Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Bar Association's 11th Floor Conference Center to A. Bruce Crawley,founder and former Chairman of the Philadelphia African-American Chamber of Commerce, discuss "Ending Economic Apartheid in Philadelphia's Construction Industry."
Crawley, one of the city's most vocal advocates for minority inclusion in the trades, will examine the lack of minority participation in Philadelphia’s building and trade unions, the unemployment among African American men in Philadelphia, and new Philadelphia City Council legislation which requires unions in the construction industry to commit to Council’s goals of hiring 40 percent minorities and 10 percent women in the $700 million Convention Center expansion project and beyond.
